Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We investigated the association between carbonyl stress markers and brain structural imaging markers in schizophrenia. As a result, it was found that enhanced carbonyl stress in the schizophrenia group was associated with decreased white matter integrity. These findings were accepted for publication in the journal Schizophrenia Research. Also, insights were gained into the association between increased carbonyl stress and decreased white matter integrity in the schizophrenia group, with a decrease in neuronal density being implicated. This research outcome was accepted for publication in Scientific Reports. Additionally, we analyzed the relationship between plasma homocysteine levels and the microstructural features of cerebral white matter. It was found that plasma homocysteine levels are associated with microstructural abnormalities in cerebral white matter in schizophrenia patients. This research result has been accepted for publication in the journal Schizophrenia.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
