Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study employed qualitative data analysis with the aim of illuminating the development of translingual identity among Japanese English teachers and its educational significance in one of the local cities which experienced rapid multilingualization due to the establishment of international university a few years ago. This university’s graduates who became English teachers and were proficient in multiple languages placed greater emphasis on effective communication rather than grammatical accuracy because most international students are from non-English-speaking countries. They desired to teach students practical skills in dealing with complex international communication by using multiple languages. However, they also felt struggled due to the restrictions of the standard of school education, which required them to teach correct English based on textbook contents.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
