Research Abstract |
In this research the influence of the crack on the rate of carbonation had been experimentally examined. As a result, it could be concluded that the existence of the crack does not accelerate the rate of carbonation at all when the crack depth does not reach the reinforcement bar. This reason is as follows. The water is supplied in the crack by rainfall. The remaining moisture disturbs the diffusion of the carbon dioxide.
