Research Abstract |
In this study, the authors evaluated the substrates and upstream approaches to atrial fibrillation by using canine atrial tachypacing model. Prolonged atrial tachypacing caused atrial electrical remodeling and atrial fibrillation promotion accompanying by increased oxidative stress marker. Carvedilol, a beta blocker with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, significantly attenuated atrial remodeling and atrial fibrillation promotion by preventing the increase of oxidative stress marker.
