Research Abstract |
We proved the important role of receptor for advanced glycation endproducts (RAGE) in apoptotic cell clearance in inflamed lung. RAGE directly recognized phosphatidylserine on apoptotic cells and enhanced efferocytosis. We also hypothesized MCP-1 plays crucial role in pathogenesis of chronic inflammation in lung and emphysema. We proved that MCP-1 enhances apoptotic cell clearance through Rac ? PI3K pathway in alveolar macrophages (AMs).
