Research Abstract

日本の海岸砂丘は過去の気候変動や人間活動に関連して発達してきた.その堆積物は逆に,これらの事象の重要な記録だが,近年は手法の限界から研究が進展してこなかった.鳥取砂丘に地中レーダと砂の年代測定による新しい調査手法を適用し,過去500年間の発達史を詳細に明らかにした.ここで確立した手法を他地域の砂丘に使い,完新世の気候変動の理解や,気候変動と人間活動が海岸地形環境に及ぼす影響を深く探ることが可能になった.
