Research Abstract |
Ni-Nb-based binary and ternary metallic glass wires with superior bending ductility and extremely high tensile strength exceeding 2 GPa were prepared by the arc-melt-type melt-extraction method. Continuous metallic glass wires without a thick oxide layer and surface roughness were obtained from Ni_<60>Nb_<20>M_<20> (M = Ti, Zr, and Ta) alloys. Ni-Nb-M metallic glass wire shows high glass transition temperature as well as superior bending ductility.
