Research Abstract

全ての生物を構成する細胞は糖鎖で覆われている。細胞表層糖鎖の構造を認識して、細胞-細胞間コミュニケーションを媒介している分子がレクチンであり、糖鎖に結合することにより細胞機能に必須の役割を担っている。本研究では、ヒト免疫系において重要な役割を担っているCタイプレクチン4種について、100種類以上の糖鎖に対する定量的相互作用解析を実施した。その結果、これら4種のレクチンの新規糖鎖リガンドを明らかにすることに成功した。最終的には、これらレクチンが病原真菌や腫瘍細胞の認識、糖タンパク質のクリアランスなどに関与することを明らかにした。
