Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2020年度の研究では、主に岐阜県舟伏山地域の美濃帯上部ペルム系～三畳系層状チャート・珪質粘土岩を対象に研究を行なった。美濃帯の岩井谷セクションから採取した珪質粘土岩試料については、XRFおよびICP-MS分析による主要・微量元素濃度の測定を行なった。これらの元素情報をもとにした多変量解析から、海洋の酸化還元状態、生物生産、後背地化学風化などの時代変遷について検討を行った。研究の結果、パンサラサ海遠洋・深海環境では、ペルム紀ローピンジアンを通じて還元的な環境へと変化したこと、またこの還元環境への変化は、後背地陸域の化学風化の増加と同時期に起こったことなどが明らかになった。以上の結果については国際誌に投稿し受理された。さらに、岩井谷セクションから採取したペルム紀末の珪質粘土岩試料について、破砕して粉末にした後に真空加熱炉に導入し、高温で加熱してガスを抽出してそのヘリウム同位体を分析した。また今年度は分析データの精度向上のため、ヘリウム分析システムの改造を行なった。
他地域のジュラ紀付加体中に含まれる層状チャートに関しては、大分県津久見地域の秩父帯三畳系チャートについて試料採取を行なった。採取したチャート試料の一部については、フッ化水素酸法で放散虫化石を抽出し、属種の同定および堆積年代の決定を行なった。研究の結果、中期三畳紀アニシアンから後期三畳紀ノーリアンまでの連続した層序を復元することができた。一部の試料については、新しいフッ化水素酸分解法により得られたコノドント化石について年代決定を進めた。

Current Status of Research Progress

Reason

2020年度の研究のうち、特に研究試料の確保に関しては、コロナ禍により国内外での野外調査ができなかった。そのため2020年度は、これまでの研究で採取された美濃帯のペルム系チャート約200試料を利用して研究を進めた。また、2020年度の研究で予定してた兵庫県丹波帯の前期～中期ペルム系チャートの採取については、緊急事態宣言等の外出制限の影響もあり、試料を確保することができなかった。 3He濃度および3He/4He比の分析に関しては、すでに確保していた美濃帯のペルム系チャートを用いて、バルク試料の加熱法による測定を東京大学の希ガス分析装置を用いて進めることができた。またこれまで採取した美濃帯のペルム系チャートに関しては、海洋の酸化還元状態、生物生産、後背地化学風化といった古環境情報を抽出し、論文として公表することができた。このようにコロナ禍の影響により研究計画が前後してしまったが、成果公表という点ではおおむね順調に進展していると判断されるものの、全体の計画の進捗状況としては「やや遅れている」と判断した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

2020年度は、コロナ禍の影響もあり、予定していた年代の試料採取を進めることができなかった。そのため今年度も、引き続き今後の研究に用いる研究試料の採取を進める予定である。2020年度の研究では、美濃帯のペルム系層状チャートから3Heを比較的高い濃度で含む層準があることを発見した。そのため、本年度の研究では、特に他地域のペルム紀付加体チャート試料を確保し、分析に用いる試料を作成する予定である。具体的には、兵庫県に分布する丹波帯のペルム系チャートを採取する予定である。
本年度採取するチャート試料の一部については、昨年度の研究と同様に、フッ化水素酸分解法で放散虫化石を抽出し、属種の同定および堆積年代を決定する。昨年度の実験では、従来のフッ化水素酸分解法とは異なる手法で保存良好なコノドント化石を得ることに成功した。年代決定の精度は放散虫よりコノドント化石が優れているため、この新しい微化石抽出法により得られるコノドント化石を中心に年代決定を進める。宇宙塵フラックスの復元についても、昨年度に引き続き3He濃度および3He/4He比の分析を進める。試料からのHe抽出は、バルク試料の加熱法で行い、測定は希ガス分析装置を用いる。今年度は特にペルム紀試料に着目してHe同位体分析を進める予定であるが、高濃度の3Heが見つかった層準についてはCr同位体分析も行う。
