Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Imaging protocols for the maxillofacial region and the brain were optimized and an imaging program was constructed using a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system. In addition, a computer system was developed to automatically process data and measure valid parameters for the acquired images. As a result of analysis of maxillofacial region and brain data using the developed MR imaging and data processing methods, we found relationships between the condition of the mandible area and symptoms and brain changes. This study may contribute to the future development of rehabilitation assistance research. This study may contribute to the future development of the rehabilitation assistance research field.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
顎口腔機能が悪化することは、運動機能や認知機能にも大きく悪影響を与えることが示されている。本研究では、本問題のリハビリに役立つMRIデータを用いた要因に関する分析やデータ処理等システムを開発することを目的とした。結果として要因間の関係性やデータを高速に処理可能なシステムおよびリハビリに有用な情報を得た。本研究の成果は、将来的には、顎口腔機能低下のメカニズムの解明やリハビリ支援領域の発展に役立つと考えている。
