Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of the study is to contribute to the resolution of the pressing issues related to the shortage of tourism personnel. By developing human resources with the necessary communication skills, particularly in the field of hospitality within tourism, such as accommodation facilities, the study aims to enhance staff education effectively. To achieve this, the researchers first identify the knowledge and skills (competencies) required for hospitality communication and then visualized them through Can-Do lists, which outline the necessary verbal and non-verbal communication competencies for hospitality personnel.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究では、コミュニケーションがホスピタリティの分野で重要と認識されながらも、具体的にどのような要素が必要であるのかが明確でなかったところを可視化したことに意義がある。その要素は、身体表現から、言語パフォーマンス、異文化対応など10項目18要素に渡った。また、必要な言語レベルについては、CEFRの指標を援用し、A2+～B1+レベルであることも明らかにした。さらに、研究過程での知見を統合し、観光現場でホスピタリティを発揮するコミュニケーションを行うために身に付けるべき知識・スキルといったコンピテンシーをフレームワークの形としてまとめたことも、その意義と言える。
