Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the graduate courses, we implemented a system for developing entrepreneurial activities with data storytelling and video design for different industry-related situations. In addition, we implemented a pedagogical structure for video review of internship activities, students' project level perceptions that leads to preparation for the industry, all leading to video design and analysis on a larger scale. Students did SWOT analysis, and concept mapping for products, businesses, self, and the market situation, all documented through test videos that students created and reflected on.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
1. Video design skills to be taught decided at an early stage 2. Design fundamentals and related templates decided at an early stage 3. Syllabus trialed with a smaller graduate course to ensure lesser complexity. 4. Relevant entrepreneurial topics to be taught decided at an early stage 5. Collaboration with foreign partners on the topic already in place 6. All collaborators privy of their duties and responsibilities.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
1. Statistical analysis to be performed on how variety of complex design assignments are handled by students towards data visualization and storytelling. 2. A study to be planned and later conducted in early 2023 on visualization with three different kinds of videos and analysis on the same topic of entrepreneurship. Both productive and reflective analysis will be planned with coder analysis and self-reports. 3. Students will be participating in industry-oriented conference hosted and sponsored by ETLTC and the ACM Chapter at the University of Aizu. 4. Publications will be planned for the above-mentioned studies and the conference to be hosted involving our students.
|
Causes of Carryover |
1. Travel to international partner university to learn more about new media design practices. 2. Visit business school at other international partner universities to learn more about entrepreneurial activities that could be combined with new media design. 3. Apple Laptop purchase to focus on intense data visualization practices and faculty development training. 4. Develop a structure for networking between our students and international partner university students - host international conferences focused on more intercultural communication in English.
