Elucidating neutrino oscillations and mass hierarchy in supernova nucleosynthesis

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は三つある。第一に、ニュートリノ起源核種とrプロセス元素の太陽系組成を再現できるような理論計算を実行し、超新星内部で起きるニュートリノ集団振動、外層でのMSW物質振動、真空振動のメカニズムと物理的条件を明らかにすることである。第二に、元素組成比の理論予測と高精度の隕石組成分析とを比較検討することにより、原子炉および長基線ニュートリノ振動実験で未決定のニュートリノ質量階層に関する知見を得ることである。第三に、長寿命放射性核種の合成量を精度よく理論的に予測し、隕石組成のアイソトープアノマリーの精緻なる分析結果との比較から、隕石を含む太陽系形成論と整合性を持つ銀河化学進化モデルを構築することである。
初年度にあたる2020年度は、第一の目的に焦点を絞って研究を進めた。まず、理研をはじめ世界各国のRIBFで得られた不安定核構造・反応に関する最新の実験情報を取り入れ、実験量がない核種に関しては、原子核の殻模型と凖粒子乱雑位相近似(QRPA)模型を用いて原子核・ニュートリノ反応断面積のデータベースを構築した。これらを、これまでの研究で用いてきた超新星1987Aの爆発モデルに適用して元素合成計算を行った。その結果、ν-ν散乱の多体量子効果によるフレーバー集団振動の影響だけを受ける核種138Laと、集団振動とMSW物質振動の両方の影響を受ける11Bとの元素比が、MSW物質振動効果の良いプローブになることが判り、ニュートリノ質量階層に強く依存することも明らかとなった。来年度以降の研究で、これらの結果を他の各種の分析にも広げた研究を行い、上記第一から第三の目的を達成するための道筋がほぼ明確になった。

Reason

「研究実績の概要」に書いた初年度の研究で得られた初期成果を論文として発表した。当該研究で構築した原子核・ニュートリノ反応断面積のデータベースは、超新星、コラプサー、中性子星連星系合体、ビッグバン元素合成などにも応用することができる。具体的に、超新星起源である relic supernova neutrino のエネルギースペクトルがニュートリノ振動にどのように依存するのか、ニュートリノおよび電子が関わる弱い相互作用が中性子星・ブラックホールを残す超新星爆発での重元素合成に及ぼす影響、超強磁場下でのニュートリノおよび電子・原子核反応が元素合成に与える影響、アミノ酸キラリティーの偏りとニュートリノ・原子核反応の関係、等々への応用研究を行った。これらの研究成果を複数の論文として発表した。
当該研究は国内外の複数の協力研究者と進めているため、研究費の一部はこれらの研究者との研究連絡のための招聘費に充てる予定であったが、新型コロナウイルスがもたらした爆発的な感染症のために、招聘は一つも実現しなかった。また、研究成果の発表もオンライン国際会議および国内研究会に限られたため、研究旅費も使えなかった。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

次年度は、初年度の準備研究および初期成果の上に、超新星内部で起きるニュートリノ集団振動、外層でのMSW物質振動、真空振動のメカニズムと物理的条件を元素合成によって明らかにする研究を本格的に行う。可能な限り初期の計画通りに、第二の目的である元素組成比の理論予測と高精度の隕石組成分析とを比較検討から、原子炉および長基線ニュートリノ振動実験で未決定のニュートリノ質量階層に関する知見を得るための研究を進める予定である。
新型コロナウイルス感染症の終息を待って、国内外の複数の協力研究者の招聘による研究連絡と共同研究の推進、および、国際会議および国内研究会に参加して積極的に研究成果の発表をおこなうことを再開したい。

Causes of Carryover

当該研究は国内外の複数の協力研究者と進めているため、研究費の一部はこれらの研究者との研究連絡のための招聘費に充てる予定であったが、新型コロナウイルスがもたらした爆発的な感染症のために、招聘は一つも実現しなかった。また、研究成果の発表もオンライン国際会議および国内研究会に限られたため、研究旅費も使えなかった。
感染症の終息を待って、2020年度の未使用額と合わせて経費を使用する予定である。
