Outline of Final Research Achievements

Flow control techniques using electromagnetic forces have a potential to be an innovative flight control technology for atmospheric entry flights such as return to the ground from space. In this research, a new method for active flight control is proposed and its fundamental phenomena are investigated. The new method is designed to utilize conduction on the surface of the vehicle, and it is experimentally and numerically confirmed that switching the conduction could affect the effect of the flow control.

本研究では,電磁力を利用した流体制御技術に関し,機体表面の導通に着目した新たなアプローチを提案し,実験的・数値的な知見を得たことでその可能性を世に示した.この技術は大気圏突入機の革新的な技術であり,実現することでサンプルリターンカプセルや惑星探査機の発展につながり,その結果として新たな宇宙ミッション・宇宙探査の創出につながる可能性がある.また,プラズマ気流と電磁場との干渉現象についての知見を得たことは,プラズマ物理の発展に寄与することが期待される.
