Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study focused on changes in the vaginal environment as factors involved in the progression or regression of cervical neoplasms. As a result, it was found that changes in the vaginal microbiota are associated with alterations in vaginal inflammation. The protein NF-κB, which controls this inflammation response, was found to increase with the progression of lesions, suggesting a relationship between vaginal inflammation and lesion progression. Furthermore, small molecules that are upregulated along with this protein increase have been identified, suggesting the potential for using these molecules as indicators for early diagnosis and the development of cancer treatments in the future.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
