Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The pandemic has increased the significance of home-based learning, and it has pushed the research considerations to include the work that homeschooling communities and parents have engaged in, and the aspects that can be beneficial for home-based learning. This research continues to focus on the role of parents, families, and communities, in the child's process of learning in schools and at home. It does not mean to burden the parent, but seeks to highlight processes that are critically impacted by the extent of parental engagement and parental leadership. Communication with home-based learning and homeschooling stakeholders in Singapore has been established, and will continue expanding.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Overall delay in qualitative research collection due to the pandemic, but progress in this year itself has been encouraging.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
As mentioned in the summary, this research has taken on an additional dimension of home-based learning due to the relevance of it in the pandemic. There is room to discover how some aspects of current homeschooling practices is beneficial for home-based learning, which therefore looks at feasible parental engagement and parental leadership.

Causes of Carryover |
Post-pandemic air travel has become significantly more expensive, so the cost of air travel to overseas conferences and research trips might be difficult to predict, but has been projected to be as high over the coming FY. An increase or decrease in actual travel cost will be accommodated by manpower costs (Research Assistant) assisting me with my research.
