Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では，地球磁気圏を飛翔する複数の科学衛星を用いて，複数地点から一つのプラズマ波動現象を捉え，その時間発展や空間変化を明らかにすることを目指している．本年度は，日本のArase衛星と米国のVan Allen probesとが同一磁力線上を異なる磁気緯度で飛翔した極めて貴重な例を取り上げ，磁力線沿いに伝搬する電磁イオンサイクロトロン(EMIC)波動の伝搬特性解析を行った．電磁イオンサイクロトロン波動は，ジオスペースの物理をコントロールする重要なプラズマ波動の一種である．解析から，プラズマ波動が伝搬中に成長していることや，南北両半球の特定の緯度で反射を繰り返し，特徴的なスペクトル構造を生み出す可能性があることを議論した．加えて，地上の2拠点に設置された誘導磁力計で同時刻に観測された電磁イオンサイクロトロン波動を解析し，衛星で観測された現象との同一性の議論や，伝搬遅延時間を測定することによる伝搬経路の推定を行った．スペクトル構造の類似性や，特徴的な放射の繰返しパターンから，2機の衛星と2つの地上拠点で同一の現象を観測したことを明らかにし，想定される励起領域の推定にも着手した．また，米国空軍のアクティブ実験衛星「DSX」との協調観測計画を立案・実施し，宇宙空間における人工電波放射・受信実験を進めている．Arase衛星で受信したプラズマ波動データの解析に着手するとともに，今後の共同観測の機会に向けて科学観測運用の立案を継続的に実施している．本研究を円滑に進めるための科学観測データの解析手法や精密データ較正に関しても検討を進めている．

Reason

あらせ衛星によって観測されたデータの解析手法とデータ較正に関する検討を進め，学術雑誌や学会発表で成果を報告した．電磁イオンサイクロトロン波動の多地点観測成果については，現在論文執筆の最終段階にあり，本研究はおおむね順調に進展していると判断する．

Strategy for Future Research Activity

複数の衛星で得られたプラズマ波動観測データに加え，プラズマ粒子データの解析を実施して，伝搬経路上のプラズマ波動の成長を議論する．

Causes of Carryover

新型コロナウイルスの影響で国内出張や海外渡航計画に変更が生じたため．次年度は，延期された打ち合わせ旅費などに充当する．
