Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

現在、臨床応用されている神経障害性疼痛治療薬は副作用が報告されており、新規の疼痛治療薬の開発が急務とされている。本研究成果は、神経伝達物質の放出の低下に関わる内因性カンナビノイド（2-Arachidonoyl Glycerol : 2-AG）をターゲットとした薬剤が口腔顔面領域の神経障害性疼痛治療につながる可能性を示した。
