超高分解能X線検出器によるX線分光分析の革新

Research Abstract

TES (Transition-Edge Sensor)型マイクロカロリーメータはセンサーに超伝導体を用い、超伝導転移端における温度-抵抗曲線の急峻な変化を利用して、X線吸収体に入射したX線光子のエネルギーに比例したわずかな温度上昇を、抵抗値の変化として取り出す検出器である。本年度は、自作の4×4素子でのチャンピオンデータとして、5.9keVのX線に対して2.8eVのエネルギー分解能を実現した。また、SII-ナノテクノロジー(株)と共同で、積層配線を利用した20×20素子の配線パターンの試作も行なった。TESを、電荷交換反応のX線分光へ応用するため、2段断熱消磁冷凍機で60mKの最低到達温度を確認したほか、予備実験として衝突エネルギー30-140keVにおいてO^<7+>およびN^<6+>とHe標的気体との電荷交換反応による軟X線発光をSi(Li)検出器を用いて観測した。高い励起状態から最低励起状態である2p状態にカスケード遷移し、最終的に起きた1s-2pの発光が最も強く観測され、発光強度からTESを用いた場合の信号強度を見積り、測定可能であることを実証した。
我々はこれまでに、中井を中心としてTES型マイクロカロリーメータをSEMに搭載したSEM-TES-EDS分析システムをSII-ナノテクノロジー(株)との共同研究で、NEDOの支援を受けて開発した。本年度は科研費の支援をうけて、応用研究を展開した。様々な系への応用を試み、環境化学の分野では大気粉塵の1粒子分析、法科学の分野では微細塗膜片や発砲残渣の特性化を行った。特に、法科学への応用で射撃残さを分析しS-K線とPb-M線およびSb-L線とCa-K線などが鮮明に分離して検出され、EPMAを用いないでもより詳細な組成情報を得ることができた。これを平成7年に発生した警察庁長官狙撃事件の法鑑定に応用、有力な鑑定試料を提供し、実際の法科学分析におけるSEM-TES-EDS分析の有用性を世界で初めて実証した。
