Research Abstract |
The goal of this study was the understanding of the collaboration of the painter and commercial artist Emil Orlik and Max Reinhardt, that means in relation to the reform in the modern German theatre. The central definition for this war“plastic". We were able to determine that the style of the features of the Ukiyoe-woodcut which Orlik learned during his stay in Japan, were admitted during the direction by Reinhardt and furthermore gave a significant sign for a new direction(simplicity, symbolization, stylization etc.) for the modern German theatre.
