Research Abstract |
The mechanism of osteoarthritic pain is largely unknown. Nociceptors are excited by acidity through acid sensing ion channels. We examined the possibility that synovial fluid acidity might play a role in osteoarthritic pain. Our results showed that acid sensing ion channels are essential for producing widespread pain in osteoarthritis.
