Outline of Annual Research Achievements

昨年度までに、(1)あらせ衛星が夜間を飛翔している14か月分のデータを統計解析し、低エネルギーのO+イオンは、磁場双極子化の数分後に現れること、数keVから数10 eV程度までのエネルギー分散性を持つこと、磁気嵐時・非磁気嵐時のどちらにも現れること、磁力線に沿って地球から磁気赤道に向かって流れ出していること、などを明らかにした上、(2)あらせ衛星、Van Allen Probe A, B衛星の合計3機の粒子データを解析し、電離層からジオスペースへ流れ出してくるO+イオンの同時観測例について詳細な解析、および計算機シミュレーションを行った。これらの成果を、国際学術雑誌に2編の論文として発表した。

Reason

人工衛星データの解析、およびその結果を解釈するための計算機シミュレーションを行い、現在までに、国際学術誌であるJournal of Geophysical Researchに2編の主著論文を発表した。また、関連した研究内容について、1編の主著論文と13編の共著論文を発表した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

これまでに得られた成果に基づき、今後は、特に、内部磁気圏内での低エネルギーO+イオンの空間分布やその時間発展について調査する。具体的には、次のような解析を行う予定である。
*** データ解析 ***
あらせ衛星の低エネルギーイオン計測器(LEPi)が計測したデータを解析し、数10~数100 eV程度のO+イオンが現れているイベントを選び出してくる。イベントが観測されたL値、地方時、継続時間、磁気嵐に対する依存性、プラズマ圏界面との相対距離などを統計的に調査することで、イベントの性質の全体像を明らかにする。昨年度までの計算機シミュレーションから、低エネルギーイオンは東向きにドリフトしていく傾向が見られたので、こうしたことが実際に衛星データからも確認できるのかを検証する。
*** 計算機シミュレーション ***
Tsyganenkoモデルを用いて、計算機上にジオスペースの磁場構造を再現する。対流電場については、衛星データに基づいて構築されたジオスペース対流電場モデル[Matsui et al., 2013]などを用いる。これらの磁場・電場モデルの中で、低エネルギーO+イオンの軌道計算を行い、電離層から流出してきたO+イオンがジオスペース中でどのあたりに長時間滞留するかを調べ、衛星観測結果と比較する。
