Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本計画は,最古の海洋底下のマントル構造とダイナミクスを明らかにすることを目的とした台湾との共同観測研究計画である.本研究チームは,前回計画である基盤研究(A)「国際連携による太平洋アレイ(1):最古の太平洋マントルの探査」(平成30年度-令和2年度,代表:歌田久司)にて,韓国との共同観測により最古太平洋域の海底地球物理観測網を展開した.今回は前回の研究領域と隣接する地域に海洋底地球物理観測網を展開することにより,最古の海洋底を覆う海洋底地球物理観測網を完成させる.また,両計画で取得されたデータを独自技術を駆使しながら解析し,モホ面からアセノスフェアの深さにわたる地震波速度・電気伝導度3次元構造のイメージングを行う.
昨年度に本計画の海洋底地球物理観測網を設置し,観測を開始した.本年度は観測を継続しつつ,データ回収の準備を行った上で,実際に回収を行った.台湾側と綿密に日程や機材搬送について打ち合わせたのち,台湾の研究船を用い,海洋底地球物理観測網データの回収を行った.広帯域地震計14台(日本側9台,台湾側5台),海底電位差磁力計10台(すべて日本側の機材)のうち,日本側の観測点は全点回収することに成功し,これまで蓄積してきた安定観測の技術の成果を確認した.解析や手法開発も順調に進め,既存データを用いた最古太平洋における不均質構造や異方性を推定する研究を含め,次々と国際雑誌に成果を発表している.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

コロナ禍により,台湾研究船(Legend)の運航スケジュールを再調整したため,観測研究計画は半年強度の遅れが生じた.一方で,昨年度と同様に,前回計画の解析を先んじて実施した結果,その成果が次々と国際誌に発表された.観測計画の遅れを十分にカバーするだけのペースで進展しており,研究の進捗状況はおおむね順調であると言える.データ回収率は海底電位差磁力計で100%,広帯域地震計は83%となった.地震計の回収率が相対的に低いのは,台湾側の機材5台のうち2台で回収に失敗したからである.しかし12台の記録が利用できる状態にあり,当初目的を達成するのに十分なデータ量を確保できたと言える.この点においても研究の進捗状況はおおむね順調であると言える.これらのデータを活用し,構造推定を実施してゆく.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

観測研究計画の遅れを,解析研究計画の前倒しによりカバーする.既存データの解析,解析手法の開発,解析ソフトウェアの開発研究を先に行う.本計画で取得されるデータ解析のみを最終年度に実施することにより,計画を予定通り実施する.
