同じ刺激に対して一細胞ごとに応答がばらつくという細胞間応答の不均一性と、同じ細胞でも局在に応じて異なった応答を示すゾネーションを独自に見出しており、本研究では、これら二つの概念を組み合わせ、組織がゾネーションをどのように利用して情報を最適に伝達するのかを実験と理論により解明を目指す。

| Scientific Significance and Expected Research Achievements |
本研究を達成することで、組織内の空間的細胞間不均一性が情報伝達においてどのような役割をもつのかの意義が解明され、ゾネーションの普遍的な空間情報理論的意義が初めて明らかにされることが期待される。またシステムバイオロジーの観点からも、多細胞が示す生命現象の本質的理解につながるものと思われる。
