Outline of Annual Research Achievements

The project will study the causal effect of exchange rate movements on firm exports and will further elucidate the mechanisms underlying the effect of exchange rate changes on firm exports.
In this year, firstly, I have already cleaned and merged the highly disaggregated firm-level production data and transaction-level customs data into a panel dataset for the data analysis. Secondly, the measures of resource misallocation have been constructed by using highly disaggregated and merged firm level dataset.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

I have cleaned and merged two highly disaggregated firm-level database into a panel dataset for the data analysis. By using this merged dataset, the measures of resource misallocation have also been constructed.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

I plan to finish building the model for studying how exchange rate changes and resource misallocation affect firm exporting behavior and the empirical analysis. A working paper draft will be completed and the results will be reported in the academic conferences and workshops in Japan and overseas.

Causes of Carryover

（１）より効率的に計量分析を行うための膨大なデータを処理できるような統計ソフト(Stata 17)の購入費用を計上している。（2)研究の質の向上、研究動向の把握、研究成果発表等を目的に、国内外の学会へ参加するための旅費や参加費なども計上してい る。(３)研究の質の向上のために、当該分野の優秀な研究者を招聘して、セミナを開催するための経費も計上している。（４）最新の研究動向と分析手法を知るための関連する専門書、日常作業に必要なパソコン消耗品(トナー、用紙)、文房具も計上している。
