Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, for the first time in the world, we evaluated soot produced by pyrolysis using only PAHs as raw material. It was found that PAHs with different reaction sites showed completely different soot formation behavior in relation to PAH concentration. In particular, when phenanthrene, a PAH with an Armchair site, was used as a raw material, soot was formed even at very low concentrations.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
すすは炭化水素の不完全燃焼また熱分解で生成しすすの前駆体である多環芳香族炭化水素 (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons, PAH)の核生成および表面成長によって生成する。既往の研究ではPAHを 反応中間体や添加物として評価することはあったがPAHを原料に用いた検討は未だ行われていなかった。本研究では世界で初めてPAHのみを原料とした熱分解で生成させたすすを評価した。
