Outline of Annual Research Achievements

究極の微小デバイス創製の観点から分子機械に注目が集まっている。これまで分子運動制御の観点から多くの研究が溶液中で行われてきたが、系全体でのランダムな運動から有用な機能を得る事は困難である。一方規則的に分子が配列した結晶では、分子が協調的かつ異方的に運動し、強誘電性などの機能に結び付く。そこで今回、擬ロタキサンの結晶内分子運動とその誘電応答に関する検討を行った。アセトン、エタノール混合溶液に原料を加え、加熱攪拌により溶解させた後、室温に静置して溶媒を蒸発させ、(X2NH2+)(dibenzo[24]crown-8)[Ni(dmit)2]結晶 1, 2 を得た(X = -C2H4Cl (1), X = -C3H7 (2))
結晶1, 2 は同形結晶として得られた。クラウンエーテルの環構造を(C2H5Cl)2NH2+カチオンが貫通した擬ロタキサンは a 軸方向に沿って積層していた。単結晶の a 軸方向に沿って交流電場を印加したときの誘電率の温度―周波数依存性を評価したところ、結晶1では誘電率実部が極大値を示し、高周波数ほど高温側にピークがシフトするリラクサー強誘電類似の応答を示した。この応答は、擬ロタキサンチャンネル構造における 1 次元秩序に基づくと考えられる。一方で、(C3H7)2NH2+カチオンが孤立して運動している結晶 2 では、誘電正接が極大値を示し、測定周波数が高周波ほど極大値は高温側にシフトしていた。結晶 2 が示した誘電正接の温度―周波数依存性は典型的な誘電緩和である。結晶1では、(ClCH2CH2)2NH2 間に顕著な分子間相互作用が働く一方、結晶2では(CH3CH2CH2)2NH2間には、ほとんど相互作用が見られない。擬ロタキサン間の分子間相互作用の違いが、誘電応答における顕著な違いに結びついていた。
