Outline of Annual Research Achievements

（１）千島列島周辺海域・親潮域の海洋観測：　H25年度（繰越してH26年に実施）にロシア水域で行った海洋観測データを、ロシア極東海洋気象研究所と共同して解析した。これまで全く観測のなかったカムチャツカ半島沖および千島列島周辺海域における、水塊構造及び各水塊における鉄や栄養塩などの化学的特徴を探求した。その結果、ベーリング海からカムチャツカ海峡を通じて太平洋側に流出する水塊の生物量や栄養物質量などの特徴を捉えることができた。また、千島海峡付近において、カムチャツカ海流上流域から移送される水塊とオホーツク海から流出する水塊との混合が、西部北太平洋亜寒帯域の植物プランクトン動態、鉄を含む栄養物質、溶存有機物に多大な影響を与えていることが明らかになった。さらに、バイオロギングにより、千島列島の海峡における潮汐混合や宗谷海峡における水温・塩分分布の詳しい鉛直断面を得た。
（2）北太平洋における熱塩／物質循環の数値実験：　H26年度はオホーツク海を中心とした北太平洋全域の熱塩循環の数値実験を、高解像度モデルを用いて実施した。トレーサー解析により北太平洋とオホーツク海をつなぐ熱塩循環経路の再現性が良好であることを確認した後、表層へさまざまな強制力を印加し熱塩循環の応答特性を調べた。その結果、風を強化すると亜熱帯循環から亜寒帯循環へ塩分供給が増加し、オホーツク海の表層塩分も大きくなり、熱塩循環が強化されるという新たな知見を得た。
また、鉄循環モデルを大気再解析データで駆動することにより物質循環の変動実験を行った。データの豊富な親潮域において数値モデルは非常に良い再現性を示し、物質循環と熱塩循環のつながりが明確になった。
（3）これまで実施してきたオホーツク海観測や日露共同研究などの成果をProgress in Oceanographyの特集号として出版した。2１編の論文が掲載された。
