| Research Abstract |
23年度には、以下の活動を実施した。
1)臨地調査のための許可の継続申請
2)アブラヤシ・プランテーション施業地での調査のために企業からの協力とりつけ
3)フィールド・ステーション設置を通したサラワク大学東アジア研究所と協力体制の強化
4)「商品連鎖研究会」などの開催を通した文理融合的調査の方法論確立、情報共有のための研究会や国際セミナーの開催
5)調査に必要な機器の購入(カメラ・トラップ、燕の巣調査関係機器類等)
6)共同調査の実施と各プロジェクトメンバーによるフィールドワークの継続
7)ニュースレター『熱帯バイオマス社会』(Equatorial Biomass Society)の日本語版及び英語版の発行
8)マレーシア、サラワク州をフィールドとする自然科学者による外部評価の実施
Zedtee Sdn BhdならびにSarawak Planted Forestに加えて、本年度はアブラヤシ・プランテーション企業Keresaと接触し、施業地における臨地調査への協力要請を行い、調査許可及びフィールドワークへの便宜供与を受けた。サラワク大学、サラワク博物館、サラワク森林公社などの現地学術研究機関と協議を継続し、共同調査体制の維持を図った。日本国内においては、科研分担者ならびに協力者を招聘した会合を4回、講演会を7回、研究会を9回開催し、低インパクト伐採を行なっているZedtee Sdn Bhd社代表WongIhgYung氏を招聴して国際セミナーを開催、持続的森林伐採に関する情報収集と意見交換を行った。衛星画像、地図、民族誌、歴史資料、統計資料などの情報共有を通して、プロジェクト参加者は調査プロットの特定を継続して行うとともに、調査に必要な機器選定と購入を進めた。研究活動は、ニュースレター『熱帯バイオマス社会』(Equatorial Biomss Society)の発行(日本語版3号、英語版2号)を通して調査成果の発信につとめた。

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
伐採林、アカシア・プランテーションに加えて、アブラヤシ・プランテーション施業地での調査が可能となったことにより、本プロジェクトの目的である三種類の熱帯ランドスケ」プにおける調査プロットの設定が可能となった。サラワク州政府の調査許可ならびに私企業から調査協力を得たことにより、調査活動のより円滑な実施が可能となった。各調査プロットにおける臨地調査も順調に進み、その調査結果の一部は、平成23年度6月にブルネイで開催される国際会議Borneo Research Council Conferenceで発表予定である。

マレーシア、サラワク州をフィールドとする自然科学者2名による外部評価を実施し、その評価を研究分担者および協力者にフィードバックし、より良い調査体制の構築を進める。平成23年度6月にブルネイで開催される国際会議Borneo Research Council Conferenceでの調査結果の発信を通して、本研究の国際的認知度を高め、グローバルな知的サークルのなかで研究を推進するとともに、マレーシア、サラワク州において州政府、企業、大学関係者などを招聰してセミナーを同年6月に開催し、研究成果の現地社会への還元を行う。
