Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study revealed commonalities and unique features of the regions around Lake Biwa and Lake Tai-Hu with respect to people’s use of the aquatic environment there. The fundamental principles underlying people’s “culture”, developed within the ambit of their daily life and their subsistence-related occupations, as well as their actual practices with respect to the aquatic environment, were the foci of the analysis. The conditions favoring maintenance of the aquatic environment are presented from a new point of view. An account is also offered of the realization of an exhibition based on the results of this relatively empirical study of lake conservation measures.
