Research Abstract |
Synthetic double-stranded RNA polyI:C elicits viral-like immune responses inmammals. In this study, we found that polyI:C treatment produced marked decrease ofseizure threshold in corneally kindled mice. This exacerbation was suppressed bypretreatment with minocycline, an inhibitor of activated microglia. These resultssuggest that polyI:C treatment in corneal kindled mouse model is a useful tool in thestudy of brain damage including viral infection-related convulsion.
