Research Abstract |
Enzymes were immobilized on nanoporous metals for stabilization. Laccase immobilized on nanoporous Au exhibited higher thermal stability than free laccase. Decoration of nanoporous Au with self-assembled monolayer(SAM) also enhanced the thermal stability of the immobilized laccase. SAM decoration also facilitated electron transfer between electrolyte and electrode through enzymes. A prototype biofuel cell successfully operated using enzyme-immobilized SAM-modified nanoporous Au electrodes.
