Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The present study explored the acquisition process of the Japanese case particle "de" by intermediate-level Japanese language learners. We investigated whether Korean and Vietnamese learners exhibited the errors observed among Chinese learners of Japanese: (1) misusing "ni” instead of "de" due to confusion with the destination marker "ni", as in "*Ano kissaten ni kohi wo nomu" , and (2) errors in distinguishing between "ni” as a destination marker in (1) and as a location marker in “*Shokudou ni udon wo tabeta.” Our findings showed that while learners generally distinguished between “ni” in (1) and (2), analysis of the case particle choice test did not reveal the aforementioned confusion-based error (1). Lower-intermediate level learners exhibited confusion between the use of “ni” as in (1) and its use as a location marker.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究では中級レベルの日本語学習者の格助詞デの習得における1つの段階で普遍的な部分と母語の影響を受ける部分とを示すことができた。動作動詞の現在形を伴う文で動作場所「で」を「に」とした誤用(「*あの喫茶店にコーヒーを飲む」)は、中級レベルの中でも日本語レベルが低いときには存在場所「に」との混同、日本語レベルが高くなったときには移動先「に」との混同によって現れる可能性があるが、学習者の母語によっては現れないことを示したのである。教育の現場では学習者の「で」の習得の段階を知る1つの目安となり得る。
