Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We examined the design of an Embodied Conversational Agent (CEWill) with two motivational strategies and a semantics-aware web environment. Specifically, we focused on generating linguistic stimuli for Shallow Questions (SQs) that the system can judge as correct or incorrect. From there, we designed interactions that lead learners to the learning content corresponding to Deep Questions (DQs). By visualizing historical facts and connections between historical figures according to learners' interests, we developed emotional communication technology to enhance motivation in human-computer interactions.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
Affective Computingと呼ばれる分野では,人間の情動的状態を計算機が捉える試みに留まり,人の情意に計算機が直接働きかけ,学びの動機付け効果を明らかにした研究は多くは無い.特に,学習者が自分の興味に応じて自由に学ぶ文脈では,学習対象と目標が多様であるため,個々の興味や情況を捉えた支援の実現が難しいという根源的課題がある.内容・範囲が限定されない開いた学習空間であっても,学習者の興味を捉えた基本的な内容の理解とより深い理解に導く仕組みを実現したことは,対話エージェントとの情動的コミュニケーションの成立とその効果を動機付けの観点から明らかにする道を切り拓く意義がある.
