Research Abstract |
A fluorometric biochemical gas sensor (biosniffer) for odor chemicals was developed by incorporating with an UV-LED emission light, a novel polymer PMEH (with low auto fluorescence) and metabolizing enzymes. The gas sensor immobilized formaldehyde dehydrogenase can successfully measure gaseous formaldehyde (lower detection limit: 750 ppt [parts per trillion]; human smell detection limit: 400 ppb [parts per billion]) with high gas selectivity. The sensor system was applicable for monitoring a different volatile chemical by changing it with other dehydrogenase enzyme.
