| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
As planned, most of this project's research effort during this financial year is in wrapping up the project and disseminating research outcomes.The main research activities and achievements are as follows:
1) We organized a three-day international symposium titled "Japan’s New Immigrants: Capturing the Changing Ethno-scape in a Globalizing Society" between Feb. 12th and 14th, 2015. The purpose for this symposium was first to showcase the research findings of this Kiban(B) project, and second to invite researchers who were working in the general field of migration in Japan to present their own cutting edge research so that the Kiban (B) researchers would have a better understanding of the field as a whole and how our research was positioned empirically and theoretically. Including the presentations by all of the researchers involved in this particular project, this symposium was able to gather 20 papers by scholars from both within and outside Japan. More than 60 scholars around the world participated in this three-day symposium. The outcomes of this symposium are being prepared for publication as a special issue in Social Science Japan Journal (a SSCI journal). An edited volume is also under preparation.
2) Conference presentations and publications. Project members have presented their research findings in conferences and published their research findings.
