Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to practically elucidate the formation of identity among human service professionals, i.e., adult educator, curator, teacher in special-needs school, childcare worker, nurses, and public health nurses. With special attention to the life courses of public health nurses, we analyzed their roles as experts who support the social participation of mentally disordered people in local communities. We also deal with the practical issue of "how to enrich the quality of nursing."In this research, we have a qualitative approach. We clarified the professional identity of those professionals through the in-depth interviews; comprehended the formation of their identity and expertise through the study of their relationship with coworkers as well as clients, i.e., children, patients, people who use the welfare facility, and local people.
