成層圏‐対流圏結合系における極端気象変動の現在・過去・未来

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

研究手法をもとに構築された 1)データ解析班、2)メカニスティックモデル・統計理論班、3)大気大循環モデル・数値予報モデル班、4)気象研究所気候モデル班、の4班からなる研究体制のもとに、多重の時間空間スケールで変動・変化する成層圏-対流圏結合系での極端気象について、現象の記述と力学過程の理解から最先端モデルによる予測まで総合的に研究を推進している。各班の平成26年度の研究実績は以下の通りである。
1)データ解析班:○成層圏突然昇温(SSW)の頻度がENSO/QBOに非線形に依存することを再解析データを用いて明らかにした。○北半球冬季成層圏の東西平均場のENSO/QBOに伴う年々変動は再解析データ間でよく一致するが、惑星規模波動によるフラックスの相違は比較的大きいことを示した。
2)メカニスティックモデル・統計理論班:○モデルの精度検証のために、風下波の非線形定常解の高精度計算法を開発した。○赤道大気を理想化した鉛直二次元モデルにおいて、計算領域などによらずQBO的振動がロバストに存在することを明らかにした。
3)大気大循環モデル・数値予報モデル班:○衛星データを追加したデータ同化実験とアンサンブル再予報実験を行い、追加観測の効果を調べた。○成層圏で反射して下方伝播する惑星規模波が対流圏循環に及ぼす影響を再解析データを用いて解析した。○冬季成層圏循環の予測可能性の月毎の変動特性を気象庁一ヶ月アンサンブル予報結果を用いて調べた。○SSW生起前後の全球的な大気大循環について衛星データを用いて解析した。
4)気象研究所気候モデル班:産業革命前と完新世中期の気候再現実験においてオゾン化学輸送過程を含む/含まない実験を比較し、太陽軌道要素の違いによる上部成層圏オゾン分布の違いが、南極域地上付近の気温に最大1.7度程度の差を生じさせることを示した。また, 過去千年の気候再現実験において、北半球環状モードなどに関して解析した。

Reason

研究手法をもとに構築された4つの班それぞれについて、各班内で分担者・連携研究者が密に協力して研究を推進し、論文発表も順調に行っている。また、4つの班全体での相互的なデータ/研究情報の共有もスムースに行えている。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

4つの班に分けた研究体制は現在まで十分効果的に機能しているので、この体制を維持して今後も研究を推進していく。各班の研究情報の共有のために、本研究課題の分担者・連携研究者全員参加の会合を年に数回開き、研究の方針性など常に議論していく。また、京都大学に設置しているサーバーを必要に応じて増強していくことによって、4つの班相互でのデータ共有も常に円滑に行えるようにしていく。
