Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Our collaborative study consisted of two separate study groups.(1) Wakan Renku study group; we explored the Wakan-Renku poems from the Keicho-Tenna era (early Edo period),and transliterated the hand-written manuscripts. We then added a detailed commentary to each poem. We held monthly meetings chaired by a study leader, which was attended by more than 10 undergraduate and graduate students. The final results are due to be published with the Grant-in-Aid publication's support by February 2018. (2) Shomono study group; we studied the Shomono materials on poems of the Chinese poet Huang Tingjian (Song Dynasty). This is "Koshi-Kugi"; a collection of commentaries made by Medieval Japanese scholars. The manuscript is held by Ryosokuin, Ken-ninji Kyoto. We organized monthly study meetings, where we have transliterated the preface and 13 poems by Huang Tingkian and added our own detailed commentaries. We are planning to publish the study results of "Koshi-Kugi"as well.
