Outline of Final Research Achievements

Higher brain dysfunctions such as decreased cognitive function, aphasia or memory impairment cause daily life disability or executive function impairment, which leads difficulty to have work opportunities or return to uneventful life because of excessive burden. This fact has drawn considerable attention as one of social issues. PET or SPECT as conventional brain function nuclear medicine examinations cannot be frequently performed in all patients because of expensive examinations costs and limited spread of equipments. ASL-MRI is one of MRI imaging methods measuring cerebral blood flow non-invasively. We explored the utility of ASL-MRI as an alternative imaging methods for evaluating higher brain dysfunctions.
