新理論に基づく大気大循環の3次元描像の解明

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

重力波の水平伝播を考慮したパラメタリゼーションスキームを開発した。特に重力波の屈折に伴う運動量フラックス収束を考慮した点が新しい。大気大循環モデルに組み込んでその効果を調べたところ、南北方向の運動量収束に大きな違いがみられることが分かった。高水平解像衛星観測データを用い、熱帯域のマッデン・ジュリアン振動や、南方振動に伴う成層圏重力波活動の変動を明らかにした。さらに、南半球最終昇温の時期が春のプラネタリー波のもたらす熱輸送の積分値でほぼ決まること、またそれに伴う下降流に経度依存性があることなどを示すことができた。
対流圏下層の擾乱活動に伴う物質輸送をより正確に記述可能な等温位座標における質量重み付き平均系において重力波活動を3次元に記述する波活動度fluxを新たに導出し、論文化した。また、従来の2次元理論における非断熱加熱などの非保存項と物質輸送の関係に着目し、非断熱加熱とバランスする物質輸送の鉛直成分の3次元分布を記述する理論を構築し、その物理的特性を調べた。
全球高解像度大気モデルJAGUARを用いて2016年1-2月の国際大気レーダー共同観測期間を対象に現実的な初期値を用いた再現実験を開始日をずらしながら実施し、それらをオーバーラップさせながら連結することによってある程度の連続性を有しながらも初期値の情報を残した再現性の高い時系列データセットが得られることを確認した。
これまでに開発してきた3次元プリミティブ方程式系の力学モデルを用いた数値実験により、ジェットを模擬したダイポール渦からの自発的放射を定量的に調査した。特に、自発的放射がもたらす反作用を、パラメータを走査したダイポール渦の長期間のエネルギー変化から、見積もることに成功した。
以上の成果は、国内外の学会で発表し、また論文出版(一部は投稿中)した。

Reason

構築中の3次元大気大循環理論を再解析データに試験的に適用したところ、鉛直風の強さが大きめに現れることが明らかとなった。研究遂行上この現象の本質を見極めることが必要不可欠であることから、再解析データを用いた3次元大循環の解析より先行して、高精度な3次元大気大循環理論の構築をことにした。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

3次元大気大循環理論のリファイン、複数の再解析データの比較解析、診断的な重力波の寄与の研究等、ひとつずつ着実に進める計画である。また、全球的な大循環だけでなく、対流圏から成層圏への物質の流入域として重要なアジアモンスーン域の上部対流圏高気圧の力学についてもフォーカスして研究を進める予定である。
