Outline of Annual Research Achievements

1.太陽系始原物質微小試料の分析：始原惑星微小物質の物質分析および分光分析を行った。探査機はやぶさが回収した小惑星イトカワ試料、および南極雪から回収した惑星間塵を対象に放射光を用いたX線分析、電子顕微鏡分析などの物質分析を行った。オーストラリアのジョーダン博士との共同研究で衝撃年代を求める目的で配分されたイトカワ粒子の放射光X線回折を行い、Ar-Ar分析試料として重要な斜長石が含まれていることを確認した。また、米国のハーツオグ博士との共同研究で進めている含水炭素質隕石の加熱脱水時期の推定の研究においてAr-Ar分析が終了し、加熱時期は比較的最近の現象であったことを突き止めた。結果を米国で行われた国際隕石学会で報告した。惑星間塵試料からは、炭素質物質を大量に含む試料を発見し、透過電子顕微鏡を用いて詳細な観察分析を行った。

2.地球外物質の分光分析：タギッシュレイク炭素質隕石の加熱実験を行い、加熱温度上昇とともに、反射スペクトルがどのように変化するかを調べた。その結果、400℃で層状ケイ酸塩の層間水が脱水し、600℃で炭酸塩鉱物が分解し、900℃で層状ケイ酸塩の構造水が脱水していることが明らかになった。これによりタギッシュレイク炭素質隕石の母天体と考えられているD型小惑星の加熱による物質変化とスペクトル変化を理解することが可能になった。

太陽系始原物質微小試料の分析および地球外物質の分光分析ともに順調に分析が進み、新しい知見が得られてきているため、研究計画は順調に推移している。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

1.太陽系始原物質微小試料の物質分析に関しては、今後もこれまで同様に継続し、分析データを蓄積していく。
2.分光分析に関しては、昨年に引き続き、炭素質隕石の分光分析を系統的に進める。また、実験的に加熱したCMおよびタギッシュレーク隕石試料の反射スペクトルと小惑星で加熱を受けた脱水炭素質隕石試料の反射スペクトルの比較検討を行い、小惑星における加熱現象とスペクトル変化を総合的に理解する。
