Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The investigation of negative ion extraction mechanism in the negative ion source was performed, and it was found; 1) externally applied electric field can penetrate deeply inside the extraction region, 2) negative ions are transported from the plasma grid (PG) toward driver region, 3) negative ions are extracted through whole region in the extraction region, 4) electron density and negative ion density near the PG responds to the extraction voltage, and 3D magnetic field structure plays a role for particle dynamics. These observations contribute to reveal the negative ion dynamics for the first time.
