| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
1. 将来の頭尾を決める細胞(DVE)が決定される機構：着床前胚でLefty1を発現する細胞が、将来DVEになる事はすでに報告した。着床前胚の３０程度の細胞の中で、2~3個の細胞だけがLefty1を発現する機構を調べた。Lefty1はNodalシグナルによって発現が誘導されていること、おそらくランダムに選ばれている事、Lefty1はNodal シグナルを抑制することで、Lefty1を発現する細胞の数を制限している事、などが判った。
2. 母性因子としてのNodal シグナルの役割：卵子においてNodal シグナルで発現が制御している遺伝子の中で，少なくとも2つ（どちらもepigeneticsを制御する因子）が、着床前胚の発生に必須である事が判った。
3. in silicoとin situ hybridizationで、卵子特異的に発現する遺伝子をスクリーニングした結果，これまでで20の遺伝子を同定した。そのうちの２つは、epigeneticsを制御する遺伝子であり、今後の解析の対象とした。
4. 着床前期でzygoticに発現するLefty1, Lefty2の役割：キメラマウスを用いた解析から，Lefty1,2の胚体外組織での発現が、正常な嚢胚形成（原条形成）に必要である事がわかった。
