Outline of Annual Research Achievements

陽電子放射型断層撮像法(PET)と磁気共鳴画像化法(MRI)を組み合わせたPET/MRI装置は,機能画像と軟部組織コントラストに優れた解剖学的画像を同時撮像可能なことから注目されている。しかしPET/MRI装置を用いても,老化や種々の疾患の原因とされるフリーラジカルに関する情報と,それに伴う機能変化画像を得ることはできない。オーバーハウザー効果MRI(OMRI)は生体中のフリーラジカル分布を測定可能な唯一の手法であり,PETと一体化することで革新的な分子イメージングが可能となる。この目的を達成するために、世界で初めてPET/OMRI一体型装置の開発を行い,フリーラジカルの分布とPET画像の同時撮像を実現した。
開発したPET/OMRI一体型撮像装置は、0.02T の永久磁石の連結部に16㎝直径の空間を設け、630MHzの高周波磁場コイルを配置したOMRI装置を用いた。連結部後方部の磁場を1ガウス以下に抑え,光ファイバー型PET装置の位置有感型光電子増倍管(PSPMT)をその位置に配置することで構成した。PET部の空間分解能は1.2mm、感度は中心部で1.2%であった。OMRI部の空間分解能は、実用的な撮像条件では空間分解能が1-2㎜、スライス幅は5㎜であった。PET部とOMRI部の相互影響は観察されなかった。また開発したPET/OMRI一体型装置を用いて,ファントムを用いたPETによるポジトロン核種とOMRIによるニトロキシルラジカル溶液の同時測定を行い,相互影響の無い同時測定画像を得ることができた。開発した装置を用いて、生体中のPET分子プローブとラジカルプローブ分布の同時撮像にも成功した。これらの結果から、開発したPET/OMRI一体型装置は新しい分子イメージング装置になりうる可能性があることが明らかになった。また光を用いたラジカル分布測定法の開発にも着手した。
