Outline of Annual Research Achievements

アレルギー性結膜炎患者の涙液におけるペリオスチン発現を検討した(J Allergy Clin Immunol, in press)。その結果、季節性アレルギー性結膜炎、アトピー性角結膜炎、春季カタルのそれぞれの患者の涙液において、健常者に比べて約100倍以上のペリオスチンを検出した。また、アトピー性角結膜炎患者において、結膜増殖、あるいは角膜障害の存在によって、涙液ペリオスチン濃度がさらに上昇することを見出した。この鑑別能力は、涙液におけるIL-13濃度、あるいは血液におけるペリオスチン濃度より優れていた。以上より、涙液ペリオスチン測定により、結膜炎の原因がアレルギー性であるかどうかを、あるいはアレルギー性結膜炎の重症度を評価できることが明らかとなった。結膜炎の原因としては、アレルギー性以外に感染性のものがあり、その鑑別は、治療方針の決定、患者の管理において重要である。また、アトピー性角結膜炎が重症化した場合、失明の危険性があり、その重症度の評価も治療方針の決定に重要である。現在、企業との共同開発により、涙液ペリオスチンを検体とした診断薬の開発を進めており、それは結膜炎の治療において有用となると期待される。
