| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本研究では、29億年前頃に生じた南アフリカのカープファールクラトンのポンゴラ氷期における環境変化を地質学的に解析し、さらに インドのダールワール、シンブン、バスターやオーストラリアのピルバラといった各同時代岩体との比較を行う。本年度は, 南アフリカ・カープファール岩体にて1回、インド南部ダールワール岩体にて2回現地地質調査を行い、以下の項目を実施した。
1.南アフリカ・カープファール岩体のポンゴラ超層群で、研究代表者と大学院生１名が南アフリカ地質調査所のGrantham博士の協力を得て調査を実施した。さらにインド南部のダールワール岩体で、研究代表者と4名の研究分担者が、IIScのSajeev准教授の協力を得て調査を2回、それぞれ約2週間実施した。
2. 野外では岩相記載を詳細に行い、層序対比のため柱状図を作成した。また地質構造データ、堆積相の詳細な記載も行った。室内分析に必要な試料を採取し、地質構造および堆積構造の解析から、変形履歴や古流向を検討中である。
3. 室内分析は野外で採取した試料について、以下の分析を行った。(a）記載岩石学的検討：野外で採取した多様な岩石試料について、薄片を作成し、顕微鏡下での岩石記載や電子顕微鏡を用いた鉱物微細構造の観察と変成作用の解析を行った。(b）放射年代測定：岩石学的な基礎データをもとに厳選した試料に対して、ジルコン・モナザイトを用いたU-Th-Pb年代測定を行った。（外田）。(c）同位体分析： 野外で採取した試料について全岩化学分折を行った。島根大学においてストロンチウム、ネオジムの同位体分析（亀井）を、新潟大学において炭素・酸素・硫黄の同位体分析（Satish）を行った。(d) 構造地質学的検討・堆積学的検討：地質構造および堆積構造の解析から、変形履歴や古流向を検討した（豊島、片岡）。また堆積相解析を行った（片岡）。

Reason
本研究計画では、計画通り南アフリカのカープファール岩体のポンゴラ超層群とインドダールワール岩体との調査を実施し、現段階では採取した様々な岩石試料の化学分析を行っている。目標とする大陸間の太古代の地層対比 の見通しが得られたため、おおむね順調に進展していると判断できる。
また、採取したストロマトライトの炭素同位体データから生物起源性を示す値が得られた。過去に得られた同岩体の硫黄同位体のデータとあわせた解釈を行うことで、太古代末期の詳細な年代時系列での同位体進化の解析が可能との見通しである。

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
今後、南アフリカのカープファールクラトンのポンゴラ帯またはダールワール岩体に現地地質調査を継続し、ポンゴラ氷期前後に形成 された縞状鉄鉱床やチャート、ストロマトライト、氷礫岩について地質学的特徴や同位体年代、全岩化学組成を検討し、放射性および安定同位体組成を抽出・比較することで、太古代ポンゴラ氷期による海洋・大気環境の局所的・広域的変化を評価する。これまでの研 究では特にダールワール岩体における化学的なデータや年代時系列での同位体進化の解析は不足している。そこで昨年調査した試料の 希土類元素組成、ストロンチウム、ネオジム同位体のデータを加えることで大陸間の太古代の地層対比が可能となる。
