Outline of Final Research Achievements

Post-disaster dementia and trauma were investigated in southern and western Sri Lanka affected by the 2004 tsunami. The survey was a quantitative survey of 300 people aged 60 years and older living in the affected area, using depression, PTSD, and the depression rating scale. It was unclear whether the PTSD and depression were directly affected by the tsunami 10 years after the tsunami disaster, according to the survey, which is higher for people living in areas where the damage is severe.
Since the exacerbation tendency after the disaster was unknown about dementia, interview survey was conducted while visiting the houses of affected residents in parallel with the quantitative survey. As a result, it became clear that dementia is told through more complex family-related problems.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
