Research Abstract |
[具体的内容] (1) タングステン単結晶基板を清浄化するための高温アニール装置を新たに設計した。(2) 高温アニールとアルゴンイオンスパッタリングを繰り返し、タングステン単結晶基板の清浄化を行い、低速電子線回折像およびオージェ電子スペクトルで清浄性を確認した。(3) タングステン基板上に真空蒸着法を用いてランタン単結晶薄膜を作製した。膜厚はオージェ電子スペクトルを用いて評価し、30原子層と見積もった。明瞭な1×1の低速電子線回折スポットを確認し、6回対称性を持つ表面が得られた。(4) 直線偏光依存高分解能角度分解光電子分光実験(ARPES)を行い、ランタン単結晶薄膜の電子バンド分散を軌道の対称性に応じて選択的に分離観測した。(5) フェルミ面に6回対称性性があること、バンド構造の励起光エネルギー依存性が弱いこと、バンドの折り返しから見積もった格子定数がdhcp構造を持つバルク結晶の値に近いことから、dhcp構造を持つと結論した。dhcp構造を仮定してバンド計算を行って実験と比較したところ、良く対応していることが明らかとなった。 [意義、重要性] 希土類金属単体は空気中で反応性に富むため、バルク単結晶試料を用いたARPESによる電子構造解析は困難である。このため超高真空中で単結晶薄膜を作製し、清浄性や結晶構造を評価して実験を行う必要がある。これまでランタン、セリウム単体金属について多体相互作用をARPESで実験的に見積もった例はない。本年度はまずdhcp構造をもつランタン単結晶薄膜について研究を行った。この研究成果はセリウム単結晶薄膜の電子構造を理解するうえでも重要な基礎となる。

当初予定していた内容はほぼ達成できている。多体相互作用の結合定数の精密評価については、実験データーをもとにさらに検討を加えたい。

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
(1) セリウム単結晶薄膜を作成し、低温で直線偏光依存高分解能角度分解光電子分光実験を行い、電子状態(バンド分散、フェルミ面)を明らかにする。バンド計算を行い、実験と比較する。またランタン単結晶薄膜との比較を行う。 (2) セリウム単結晶薄膜について多体相互作用を定量化する。 (3) 得られた研究成果を国内外の学会で発表し、学術雑誌に投稿する。

新型の高温アニール装置の設計図面の手直しのため、製作が来年度になったため。 新型の高温アニール装置を平成26年度に製作する予定である。
