高速点火レーザー核融合におけるドライバ粒子の伝播制御

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

コーン付きターゲットを用いた高速点火レーザー核融合で重要な役割を果たす高速電子は,大きな発散角と高いスロープ温度を持つため,コア加熱効率の著しい低下が懸念されている.そこで,高エネルギーイオンを用いて補助加熱を行う手法について統合シミュレーションを行った.コーンチップをイオン源となる低密度CHフォームでコーティングし,ポンドラモーティブ力による直接イオン加速を用いた場合,フォーム中央部のイオンは加速されるが,コーン壁に沿う電子密度増加による静電場およびCHフォームの凹面変形により,イオンビームの発散角は大きくなることがわかった.これを抑制するため,コーン形状のテーパーをなくし,凹面変形補償のためCHフォームを凸面にした結果,加熱のイオン寄与は67%改善されたが,電子寄与は半減した.このため,ターゲット構造の最適設計が必要である.
一方,高速電子を外部磁場によってコアまでガイディングする手法では,平成28年度のFIREX実験に導入される中実ターゲットについて,爆縮による外部磁場の圧縮をシミュレーションし,その磁場を用いてコア加熱をシミュレーションした結果,初期に1.5 kTの外部磁場を印加した場合,加熱効率は1.6倍程度向上することが示された.
また,高速電子のスロープ温度を下げる手法として,加熱用レーザーの短波長化(2ω,3ω化)が考えられている.そこで,短波長レーザーにより生成される高速電子の特性を評価し,簡易的にコア加熱効率を見積もったところ, 2ω化の場合には1.7倍,3ω化の場合には2.1倍程度の向上を期待できることがわかった.
一方,強磁場中での相対論的電子ビームの高密度プラズマ中の輸送では,非線形ホイッスラー波として双極子磁場が成長しながら伝播し,双極子磁場の誘導電場により電子ビームが減速する結果,ビームエネルギーが磁場エネルギーに変換されることがわかった.
